Chapter 32: Veterans Educational Assistance Program (VEAP)
Veterans Educational Assistance Program (VEAP) is available if you elected to make contributions from your military pay to participate in the program during an eligible timeframe determined by the VA. The government matches your contributions on a 2-to-1 basis. You will receive monthly benefits payments to use toward tuition.
Veterans Educational Assistance Program may be used for:
- a college degree program (undergraduate and graduate)
- technical or vocational courses
- flight training
- co-op training
- on-the-job training and apprenticeship
- licensing and certification tests and prep courses
- national tests and prep courses
- entrepreneurship training
- correspondence courses
Benefit entitlement is for up to 36 months depending on the number of monthly contributions, and you have 10 years from your release from active duty to use VEAP benefits. If unused, the remaining portion is refunded to you. For more information about VEAP eligibility, visit the VA website.
